Why do bass actually bite?

It’s not always because they are hungry. It can be broken down into three main types; Hunger, Reaction, and Territory bites.

Hunger does lend itself to easy bites. If fish are actively feeding, they’ll commit to realistic prey.

Reaction leads to instinct strike. Fast movement triggers reflex and a fish will strike without thinking.

Territory is a defensive bite. Fish attack to protect space, not because they want to eat.
