Why do I keep getting skunked?

It might not be the fish.

Location You may be fishing dead water. if bait, and fish activity are not there, neither are the bites.

Timing Maybe you're moving too fast. Fish sometimes need time to inspect and commit to a bite.

Conditions You could be ignoring the wind. wind pushes bait, adds oxygen, and hides your mistakes.

Lure presentation Are you stuck in presenting baits that basically are doing the same thing? Do you keep throwing crawdad variations when they want fish? Move to something completely different. Different shape, action, size, color, line size.

Success Many factors can change a success rate. Sometimes it’s a small change or some times it calls for a big change. The point is don’t get stuck forcing a technique or location for too long if nothing is happening. Keep an open mind always and keep trying changes until a bite gives you a clue.
